A Day in Bali's Food Forest
Join your local guide Made as she leads you through a day of foraging, cooking, learning and community connection. Learn techniques and knowledge passed down from 100 generations of Balinese people, and end the day with a feast you cook yourself with what you collected.
The Experience
Your morning begins at our meeting point in Ubud, where you'll meet Made, your guide, teacher, and chef for the day.
From there, we venture into the jungle. Made will show you the plants that locals have foraged for generations: wild greens, edible flowers, herbs used in traditional medicine, and fruits you've probably walked past a hundred times without knowing.
You'll learn their Balinese names, their stories, how to identify them safely, and how they've been woven into daily life on this island for centuries.
Then we head to the kitchen. Together, you'll prepare what you've foraged, learning traditional techniques and recipes passed down through generations. And then, the best part: we eat together.

What's Included
- 5 hours with your local Balinese guide (9am–2pm)
- Morning coffee, tea, snacks and fresh fruit
- Guided foraging walk through food forest and rice paddies
- Palm sap harvest demonstration
- Hands-on cooking: sambal, jamu, palm sugar, traditional dishes
- Full organic lunch (cooked together from what you foraged)
Not Included
- Transportation to/from the venue (~1 hour from Ubud)

- Comfortable walking shoes (jungle paths and rice paddies)
- Sun protection (hat and sunscreen)
- Insect repellent
- Water bottle
- Camera (optional)
- Light, breathable clothing that can get a bit dirty

Experience needed: None. Our guides teach complete beginners the same way they learned.
